This week I experimented with pastels and also did some more painting. I have not used pastels since elementary school so I don’t remember any techniques. The technique I used this week was a cotton swab and a kneaded eraser. I tried to blend the colours as best as I could but it is definitely something to work on! I then went over the pastel with the pain pen but it ran out about halfway through so I used acrylic paint to go over it. I think this would be a great activity for kids. If they are taught to blend they could add anything over top whether it is pumpkins or haunted house it would work perfectly. I decided to add a scarecrow to mine but you could do whatever over top!
The second painting I did was also Halloween related. I used acrylic paint for this and like my other paintings there was a lot of mixing to get the colours I wanted. This one would be great for older kids. It might be easier to put the paint out for the kids that way they don’t use too much. I really enjoyed doing this painting. It reminds me of a movie I used to watch with my sister when we were kids, the movie was called Casper the Friendly Ghost. Although it doesn’t look like Casper it brings back a lot of memories.

Hi Natasha,
These halloween paintings are so cute! Maybe I’ll have to get you to make me one so I can keep it and eventually put it in my future classroom.
