I can’t believe it is already week 11! Although this week’s class was online, I found it informational and fun. With that said, this week we were given plenty of options to look through, such as Edcamps, Canva, Learning Labs, Audacity, Digital Storytelling and a virtual google classroom. I choose to explore Canva. I have always heard about Canva but have never gotten the opportunity to explore it. I was able to make a poster and even got to make a virtual classroom. I think this is a great tool to use for projects, informational posters, presentations and more. It was easy to use and a lot of fun. I also learned how to add a bitmoji to my poster. I thought this was so cool and it makes what you’ve made more personal. That being said, adding it to future lessons or tutorials for students in the future would be a great idea. Although it took me almost the whole class to figure out how to use this resource here is what I created on Canva.

Here is what I created on Canva

Another thing I wanted to talk about was how our class was online this week. This was the first time I have been on zoom since the start of the Pandemic. I spent my last semester of high school and my first year of College on zoom. I brought back some interesting memories for sure. When COVID first hit I was in grade 12 and everyone was unsure what was in store for school, activities, ceremonies and more. Although we did go back to school online it was not the same at all, we had a zoom call once a week and to be honest, I do not remember learning anything in that hour of class. This was more of a check-in time to see how everyone was doing and if we had questions about assignments. Since this was most people’s first experience using zoom, I was quite nervous about how it was going to look heading into college. Even though I was nervous about the material, asking for help, making connections and more through a screen, I was able to do it. I was pretty lucky to be in a program with a cohort of 20 people, this made it easy to ask others for clarification on assignments since we had all of our classes together. During my first year, I learned so much material and felt like I was retaining the information. Since I have a family member who is immunocompromised I did not leave the house often, so this gave me an unlimited amount of time to study. I think it was nice to have the online class instead of it just being cancelled. Overall Monday’s class was fun and everyone was able to check out what they found interesting as well as still interactive with the class.
